The idea

Three parks, three very different Kenyas, and not one night spent outside the wilderness.

You asked for lodges inside the parks where wildlife sometimes walks right up to the terrace. That is exactly what this routing is built around. Kilaguni Serena looks onto a floodlit waterhole in Tsavo West. Amboseli Serena sits on the edge of the elephant swamp beneath Kilimanjaro. Ashnil Aruba stands on the shore of the Aruba dam in Tsavo East. You travel in a fully converted 4WD Land Cruiser with a pop-up roof and an experienced driver-guide.

Day 1 · 15 September 2026

Tsavo West National Park

Kilaguni Serena Safari Lodge · Full board

Diani Beach to the lava country of Tsavo West

You will be picked up from your hotel at 05:00 after an early breakfast and depart for Tsavo West National Park, arriving before 10:00. You shall enter the park through Tsavo River Gate for game viewing drives until lunchtime at the lodge at 13:00.

In the afternoon, you will depart at 15:30 for an evening game drive covering different parts of the park, including the spectacular Mzima Springs, where fifty million gallons of crystal-clear water gush out from beneath parched lava rocks, creating one of the most welcoming and beautiful scenes in Africa. Later, you will return to the lodge for refreshments at 18:30, followed by dinner at 19:30 and overnight stay.

Rooms that look straight onto the waterhole

Kilaguni Serena was the first lodge ever built inside a Kenyan national park, and it still holds the finest seat in Tsavo West. Rooms of local lava rock and thatch open onto a private veranda facing a floodlit waterhole where elephant, buffalo and the occasional leopard drink through the night. Beyond it, the red soil plains run all the way to the snows of Kilimanjaro. Dinner is served on the long open terrace, lantern-lit, with the bush breathing a few metres away.

Thereafter, you will depart for Amboseli National Park, where you shall arrive in time for lunch at 13:00, followed by an afternoon game drive from 15:30. You will then return to the lodge for refreshments at 18:30, then dinner at 19:30 and overnight stay.

During this afternoon game viewing drive, you could participate in the optional activity at Amboseli National Park, where you will meet a Masai family, mostly women who sell ornaments and curios. They will also demonstrate their deep affection for their homestead, called a Boma, which consists of round huts made of sticks, mud and cow dung. Please note this activity is purely optional and incurs an additional cost of US$30.00, organised by your driver-guide.

A hand-painted lodge on the Enkongo Narok swamp

Amboseli Serena sits inside the park on the edge of the Enkongo Narok swamp, where elephants feed within sight of the terrace. Curved earth-red walls, hand-painted murals and Maasai colour run through every room, and each opens onto a shaded veranda in flowering gardens. Wake before dawn, step outside, and Kilimanjaro is simply there — pink, enormous and close enough to feel.

This drive is essential for the possibility of spotting nocturnal animals that are rare, as well as many other animals. You will then return to the lodge for a full breakfast at 08:00.

After breakfast at 08:30, depart for Tsavo East National Park, entering through Manyani Gate or Voi Gate to begin a game drive until lunchtime at the lodge at 13:00.

In the afternoon, from 15:30, you will spend time in the wilderness, roaming various parts of the park until refreshments at 18:30, then dinner at 19:30 and overnight stay.

On the shore of the Aruba dam, deep inside Tsavo East

Ashnil Aruba Lodge stands right on the banks of the Aruba dam, one of the busiest waterholes in Tsavo East. Elephants, zebra and buffalo file down to drink a short distance from your veranda, and the pool terrace looks out over the same view. Rooms are luxury tented suites under thatch, with en-suite bathrooms, ceiling fans and private decks — canvas walls, real comfort, and the sound of the bush all night.

Ending the safari

The circuit closes the way it opened — on the Indian Ocean. If you would rather finish in Amboseli and transfer straight to Nairobi's Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for a late evening flight, we can reverse the routing for you. Just tell us and we will re-issue this itinerary.

Our promise

Great wildlife, three of Kenya’s finest parks, and a bed inside the wilderness every single night.

The wildlife

Three parks chosen for what they deliver in September: Amboseli's big-tusker herds under Kilimanjaro, Tsavo West's waterholes and springs, and Tsavo East's red elephants, lion and leopard country.

The parks

No long transfers to a gate each morning. You sleep inside the wilderness, so the best light — first hour after dawn, last hour before dusk — is spent on game drives, not on the road.

The lodges

Kilaguni Serena, Amboseli Serena and Ashnil Aruba: full board, en-suite rooms and suites, waterhole and mountain views, and terraces where the game comes to you.
