The invitation

You came for the ocean. Tsavo is only three hours away — and it changes everything.

Tsavo East is one of the largest wild spaces on earth, and the only place where elephants are the colour of the ground they walk on. They bathe in Tsavo's red dust until they glow — the famous red elephants, unmistakable and unforgettable.

You travel privately: one converted pop-up Land Cruiser, one guide who has read this landscape for twenty years, and a window seat that belongs only to you. Between drives, you rest at Ashnil Aruba Lodge on the edge of Aruba Dam, where game comes to drink while you eat lunch.

Your base · Ashnil Aruba Lodge

A lodge room facing the plains, a pool under the acacias.

Full board, all of it — lunch after your morning drive, dinner under the stars, breakfast before you head back to the coast.

Who you'll meet

The red elephants — and everyone else who calls Tsavo home.

Elephant, lion, cheetah, buffalo, giraffe, zebra and ostrich — each one closer than you imagined, right down on the plains.

Birds of Tsavo East

A sky full of colour — the birds that make Tsavo sing.

Rollers, starlings, hornbills and guineafowl. Over 500 species pass through Tsavo East — here are a few you may meet between game drives.

Yes. Pick-up and return transfers from your hotel or resort in Diani, Mombasa or Watamu are included.

Elephants, lions, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, antelopes, hippos, crocodiles and a great deal of birdlife. Tsavo East is especially famous for its red elephants.
